OUR MISSION

To provide an opportunity to introduce or reintroduce our military wounded combat veterans to the outdoors.

our story

OAMH began when one of the founders, Mike Caldwell, read an article in the local newspaper in regards to the Wasco County Sheriff Lane Magill who had contacted a combat veteran that was threatening suicide. In his attempts to help the veteran he tried to make arrangements to drive the Veteran, on his own time, to a VA hospital only to be told the Veteran was going to have to wait for his appointment that was scheduled in the upcoming weeks. Later, the Sheriff learned that the Veteran did in fact commit suicide prior to his appointment.

Our purpose

The purpose of OAMH is to help wounded combat veterans of Oregon, by providing them with a challenge of an outdoor activity and to be around other Veterans' who are facing similiar challenges. Local resources will be used and all activities will be conducted in a safe and friendly atmosphere. OAMH also wants to help develop their individual knowledge of recreational opportunities on public lands.

We depend entirely on donations from the public.  Donate today and help another Veteran enjoy the outdoors!
